Aireth Jimenez Herrera (fifth from the left) with her fellow Criminal Justice program graduates in 2024.
Aireth Jimenez Herrera is a proud graduate of our online Criminal Justice bachelor’s program. Attracted to the flexibility our program offered, Aireth was able to shape her class schedule to fit her busy life, while still achieving her academic goals. Through the program, she found support from faculty and the option to attend both virtual and in-person career fairs, which enriched her learning experience. With ambitions of becoming a probation officer, Aireth’s journey through SDSU Global Campus has equipped her with the confidence and skills to make a meaningful impact in the field of juvenile justice.
We asked Aireth five questions about her educational journey, and these are her answers.
1. What motivated you to pursue your degree through SDSU Global Campus?
In simple words, it would be the flexibility in my personal schedule. Since there were no mandatory classes, I worked as much as possible and completed my degree.
2. How did SDSU Global Campus fit into your personal and professional life?
Global Campus allowed me to complete my education while still being present with my family. As a working adult, I needed an education system that could fit into my day-to-day schedule. As for my professional life, it is worth mentioning the opportunity to attend both virtual and in-person career fairs as an SDSU student.
3. What aspects of the program stood out to you or helped you succeed the most?
What stood out to me was the compatibility with people like myself who wanted to complete classes quickly. Professors still offer their own office hours, which is great to take advantage of during finals season.
4. How has completing this program impacted your career or personal growth?
Completing this program impacted my personal growth because it challenges your independence and helps you overcome the discomfort of asking for help, whether that is asking for help from classmates or professors.
5. What are your professional goals?
My ultimate professional goal is to be a probation officer and work with juveniles. However, I am still open to employment in courts, emergency responders, or incarceration institutions.
