Pre-Arrival (online) Check-list - Semester at SDSU
Students will receive an invitation in their SDSU email accounts at 6-10 weeks prior to the program start date, or sooner for late admits.

  1. Activate SDSU Global Campus account
    • This is where students make tuition payment online. Tuition is due one month before the program start date listed on the website.

    • You will be using this many times during the semester, it is important for you to set it up properly before you arrive.
    • If you set it up and later on change it to a new phone number, SDSU IT HubLinks to an external site.in SDSU Library would be able to assist you when this happens. You can also check out the troubleshooting page for information.
    • More informational videos about DUO can be found here.

Release of Student Academic Records (FERPA)

In certain cases, a partner agent or university (or any third-party, including parents and relatives) requests access to or the release of a student’s educational record.

In order to release such information, the student must sign a FERPA release form, in accordance with US privacy laws regarding student records. The form will indicate that the student permits Global Campus International Programs staff to release their academic records to a third party. Without a signed FERPA form, Global Campus staff is legally prohibited from discussing or sharing student academic records.

In addition to the student’s name, identifying information, and signature the form includes

  • Name of Authorized Recipient: This would be the name of the specific person to whom we are releasing the records, not just a department name.
  • Relationship of Authorized Recipient: This would be the relationship to the student (mother, etc.) or title of the official to whom we are releasing the records.
  • Email Address of Authorized Recipient: (This would be the email address of the person to whom we are releasing the records.)

If information is needed about a group of students, an individual form must be signed by each student separately.

Forms may be collected

  1. Before studies* (simplest): distributed to students and collected by the partner agent or university and submitted to Global Campus International Programs in advance of the student’s arrival, along with the group application (recommended),
  2. During studies (possible, but more challenging to connect with students individually): distributed to students during their studies at Global Campus and then collected by Global Campus staff, or
  3. After studies (most challenging): emailed by Global Campus staff directly to students after studies have been completed. Students must return the FERPA form to the university using a verified email address that is connected with the student’s personal account, not in a batch file collected by a third party.

Please note that students cannot be coerced into signing the FERPA release form. It is their right to retain their academic record without release to a third party. If the students do not complete the FERPA form, Global Campus International Programs staff is not legally able to release their records.

*If you are collecting the FERPA form from students in advance, please request the most current version from the Admissions team at the time of application. Changes to this form are made based periodically based on guidance from San Diego State University.

  • Semester at SDSU programs and EAP programs will begin commission processing during the middle of the semester (Around mid-late March for Spring and mid-late October for Fall).
  • IEC programs will begin commission processing during the end of the semester (late April for Spring and late November for Fall).

Agents will receive a commission summary notification sent by the ALI Accounting team (aliaccounting@sdsu.edu ) providing a list of students, total commission to be paid, and the wire account number on file for commission to be transferred to. Accounting team will also notify partners if there’s any documents required or action needed to proceed with commission processing.

If agents have not already completed the PaymentWorks onboarding process to be set as a payee, the Accounting team will provide information and documents to help with the PaymentWorks set up.

After agents confirm commission information, the Accounting team will process the payment to the bank account on file.

  • Commission is usually processed within 3-4 weeks after notification is confirmed.
  • Agents may also send their commission invoices to aliaccounting@sdsu.edu

Any questions regarding commission should be directed to the ALI Accounting team at aliaccounting@sdsu.edu.
