Our master’s in Educational Leadership/OPASC Combo program prepares you to become an educator students look up to.

  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of instructional services at the school site level. 
  • Evaluate certificated personnel employed at the school site level, with the exception of the site administrator. 
  • Student and certificated personnel employee discipline services at the school site level.

Class Options 

You’ll start the program by taking nine classes covering different functions of educational leadership. You’ll get to study educational leadership through the lens of school improvement, professional growth, community building, and more. 

The capstone course sequence, in the form of an action research project, is the final step toward earning a master’s in Educational Leadership/OPASC Combo. Within your cohort of 25 to 30 fellow students, you’ll get to take the three capstone courses sequentially that cover how to: 

  • Explore advanced topics and existing research around a problem of practice within your sphere of influence (EDL 690).
  • Identify existing data and prospective opportunities for data collection (EDL 691).
  • Execute your action research plan, analyze the results, and compile the findings into actionable recommendations (EDL 692).

The average annual salary for this position is $76,515.

Principal 

School principals are responsible for managing operations and supervising teachers and administrative staff. Your other duties include building regulations, allocating financial resources, and publicly representing your school. The average annual salary for this position is $79,355. 

Department Head 

In this role, you’ll manage a particular university department and supervise the staff that work in it. You’ll also get to develop and manage recruitment strategies, curriculum, and fund delegation. The average annual salary for this position is $81,657. 

School Superintendent 

School superintendents are trusted as educational leaders for entire school districts. In this role, you’ll get to implement policies and procedures, monitor academic performance, and manage financial resources. The average annual salary for this position is $82,696. 

University President 

As a university president, you’ll serve as the public face of a university. You’ll get to oversee school operations and report them to the board of trustees. You’ll also manage financial resources and ensure that your institution follows state and federal guidelines. The average annual salary for this position is $97,500.
