With SDSU Online, you can earn a respected and valuable degree from San Diego State University while studying online, on your own time, from home, work, or somewhere else.
These programs make it easy to advance your career by finishing your bachelor’s degree, or earning a new graduate degree. All programs are taught by expert faculty from SDSU, and offer the flexibility to be completed on your schedule. You shouldn’t have to put your career aside to go back to school.
After completing a degree program through SDSU Online, you’ll earn the same degree as in-person SDSU students. You’ll be just as much a part of the SDSU network and community as everyone else, no matter where you are.
What Degrees Does SDSU Online Offer?
SDSU Online offers 8 online bachelor degree completion programs and 11 total online masters programs.
6 of the bachelor degree programs are fully online. These include business administration, communication, criminal justice, economics, public health, and sociology. All of these programs are 100% online and mostly asynchronous, making them the most flexible and adaptable to your life and schedule.
The other 2 bachelor degrees are hybrid. These programs are in child development and civil engineering. Most of their courses are still fully online, however they both require real-world application of what you’re learning. This is accomplished through field placements for CFD, and a five day immersive course for civil engineering in sunny San Diego.
9 masters programs are offered 100% online. These programs cover a wide range of fields from public health, to big data, to engineering, to regulatory affairs. Not only are these programs fully online, they additionally offer completion times under the typical 2 years required for graduate degrees.
There are additionally 2 masters programs that are considered hybrid. These are the Master of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) and Meeting and Event Management (MEM). Both programs include 2 weeks of on-campus experiences and leadership exercises in San Diego, in addition to 21 months of online courses.

What Resources Will I Have as an Online Student?
Online students have access to most of the same resources enjoyed by their on-campus counterparts.
SDSU offers Student Success Advising to all students in degree-bearing programs, no matter where they are. There are also several virtual opportunities through Associated Students where online students have the chance to participate in committees, educational events, wellness sessions, and leadership opportunities from the comfort of their homes.
There are additional resources through Student Disability Services, Career Services, and mentorship programs that help all students to thrive. On top of official programs, a huge resource to all students is their network of professors and classmates. All of these people are here to help you, and reaching out to them can be very beneficial.
As far as financial aid is concerned, online students are eligible for all the same options as any other students. You can fill out the FAFSA form every year to receive federal loans, take out private loans, and apply to scholarships–including Aztecs scholarships that are specifically for all SDSU students.
