How long have you been with GC and what is your position/what do you do?

I’ve been part of the Global Campus family since 2013 when we were formerly known as College of Extended Studies. I started as a student in the Teaching English as a Second Language Program then soon after secured a job as an ALI Facilitator. I am an SDSU Alumni and knew my place was here to grow professionally. I landed a job as a Student Service representative which has evolved into my current position. I am working as an Admission Advisor for Masters and Undergraduate programs by the School of Public Affairs department. My role is to nurture applicants to the application process by reviewing transcripts and walking them through CalStateApply.

Favorite quote by a woman?

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style. — Maya Angelou

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

Not just this month but every month I try to emulate the woman I look up to/admire. For example; work hard, do my best, be kind to others and reach for the stars!

This month is an opportunity to celebrate the women who’ve paved the way for me! To reflect on how far we’ve come and to remember to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself moving forward.

Jaime Groth, Director, New Program Development

How long have you been with GC and what is your position/what do you do?

I have been with GC for over 5 years as a program director. In my role I create and launch new programs for our unit.

Who are some of your female role models or inspirations?

My publicly known female role models are Maya Angelou, Catherine O’hara (currently best known as Moira from Schitt’s Creek), and Cate Blanchett. But really I am most inspired by the women in my family. They are strong-minded, intelligent, and independent. They have had the greatest influence on me and who I am today. They are fearless and confident.

Favorite quote by a woman?

I got to see Maya Angelou speak one time and she said, “. . . anyone can say anything to anyone if they put it the right way,” and hearing that changed my life and approach to communicating in relationships.

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

Any way we can help the world take a moment to pause and appreciate the daily contributions women make in the workplace and at home, I am all for. Also, my hope would be that this month can help people understand that feminism means equality for all rather than one gender over another.

Sydney Northcutt, Marketing Communications Assistant

Syndey NorthcuttHow long have you been with GC and what is your position/what do you do?

I’ve been with Global Campus since July 2020. I started as a student assistant and I’ve been fortunate to continue with the team post-graduation. In my role I produce content for blogs, newsletters, social media, email marketing and the website.

Who are some of your female role models or inspirations?

My mom is my biggest role model and inspiration. She owns her own business, has managed three kids’ crazy sports schedules, and still has time to do all the little things for everyone else. Her work ethic is unmatched. But I admire her most for her kind heart and the compassion she leads her life with.

All women in my family are role models and inspirations to me.
