Earning a college degree is a huge accomplishment. Nowadays, many universities and institutions offer online degree and certificate programs, so going back to college isn’t as traditional of a process as it used to be.
These online programs are usually designed and delivered with the same curriculum and instructors as our in-person curriculum. For that reason, many online college students prefer to learn online, which affords them greater freedom and flexibility to learn on their own schedule.
Here are some of the many benefits that come along with earning an online degree.
Same Instructors, Same Classes
We offer many of the same classes taught by the same instructors at SDSU’s main campus. Our instructional design team works closely with the main campus to ensure courses are as rigorous and high-quality as they are on campus.
All online degree programs go through the same accreditation process as our in-person degree programs. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Senior College, and University Commission accredits each of our online degree programs. Some of the instructors that teach on campus and also teach online through SDSU Global Campus include:
- Dr. Natalie Mladenov: Dr. Mladenov is an expert in civil, construction, and environmental engineering and teaches courses for the civil engineering degree completion program. She earned her bachelor’s of science in civil engineering from the University of South Florida and master’s and doctoral degrees in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
- Dr. Junfei Xie: Dr. Xie is a computer and electrical engineering connoisseur and teaches courses in our electrical engineering master’s program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and her master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of North Texas.
Earn Your Degree at Your Own Pace
Earning a degree online allows you to receive an education on your own time, at your own pace. Our online degree completion and certificate programs are predominantly asynchronous and can be completed in less than two years.
Whether you have a house full of kids or working three jobs, our online programs are designed for the success of all kinds of students. These are some past students’ experiences with online classes:
- “The online aspect of the HTM master’s program is a large reason why I enrolled. My work schedule doesn’t allow me to have designated times to be in a classroom. Virtual learning was beneficial for me because I could work at my own pace. I do feel to learn virtually, one must have self-discipline and good time management skills to complete the assigned work,” said Maggie Espinosa, Master in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
- “My schedule is very busy, I work full time and have two kids,” she says. “Having it online enabled me to use every little bit of my spare time to read and work. I don’t need to waste my precious time in traffic and can work according to my schedule. It worked very well. I completed this program while I was in China,” said Lei Li, Master in Educational Leadership.
Save Time and Money
Most of our online learning programs are asynchronous and completable in less than two years. Not only does this allow our students to save precious time when getting an education, but it also allows them to save money they would spend on a traditional, four-year college experience.
Whether you want to earn a professional certificate or complete your degree, you can do it quicker for a fraction of the cost with us. Here are some past students’ experiences taking these affordable, time-saving courses:
- “I found the class curriculum easy to understand as far as what was needed to complete my certificate program. I was able to plan out my coursework to finish within an acceptable time frame for my budget and personal goals. The instructors were easy to contact and more than willing to assist with any class or program questions,” said Lee Rankins, Professional Certificate in Project Management.
- “I completed the program in two quarters. I took as many classes as I could, as fast as I could. It was a tremendous value. Also, I plan to take the CMP [Certified Meeting Professional exam] and this program was a great precursor,” said Molly Fry, Professional Certificate in Meeting and Event Planning.
